Change is inevitable – Learning from change is optional

Having had my mobile phone stolen during my recent speaking tour of Europe, I am pleased to report that it’s possible to survive without one for a few days; but frightening to experience how dependent we have become on technology. And, no one ever told me that you needed to be smart to buy a smart phone in a foreign country where you don’t speak their language!

I had to remind myself that Hugh Allen once said: People are like rockets and there are few times in life when all systems are go.

Luckily all attendees at my session at IMD in Switzerland, the #1 ranked executive education program outside the US, all spoke English; and I then had the privilege of listening and learning from world class educators. Here’s a sneak preview of my interview http://www.imd.org/research/challenges/TC012-06.cfm

Later speaking in Istanbul, I visited the magnificent ‘New Mosque’ which was built in 1597 before Australia was even on a map. Again, I marvelled at changes in our world but was buoyed that some structures-and indeed well-structured thoughts-can stand the test of time.

Change is inevitable. Learning from change is optional

I’m still struggling with changes in the world of publishing but after a radio interview in Ireland, when listeners ordered books and the cost of postage exceeded the cost of the actual books, I knew I had no choice but to embrace the world of eBook. So most of my titles are now available as Kindle editions on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Catherine-DeVrye/e/B000APLXPG/ref=sr_ntt_srch_lnk_12?qid=1348620856&sr=8-12
And other electronic formats are available on my web page.

I have much to learn and admit to being a bit of a social media dinosaur but surely dinosaurs once roamed the Amazon. And you can now follow me on Facebook and Twitter.

Maybe the next person on the moon will send a tweet. That’s not so far-fetched, considering I’m now on Facebook with the Sherpa who guided me beyond Everest Base Camp.

Famed futurist Arthur C Clarke was certainly right when he said: The future isn’t what it used to be

Who knows what the future will bring but remember that: You create your own tomorrows with your thoughts and actions today.
